Centennial Gun Club opens shooting range

The owners of the Centennial Gun Club couldn’t get the business’ new shooting-range facility open fast enough.

Virtually since the day the business opened in February 2012 as the Gun Store at Centennial, near the busy corner of Peoria Street and Arapahoe Road, its six existing lanes were completely booked at all times.

So the company immediately sank $10 million into building a 35,000-square-foot facility, with 28 shooting lanes, a lounge and a 5,000-square-foot retail store. It opened at 11800 E. Peakview Ave. this month, adjacent.

“That should really ease up the pressure on the lanes,” said Richard Abramson, general manager. “As soon as we feel the pressure on those lanes, we have room to add 10 more — which should be a cushion for a long time to come.”

The business’ growth has been rapid: It started turning a profit after the first year of operation and have doubled year-over-year revenues in the second year of business, Abramson said.

“The business has grown a huge amount in the past year,” he said. “We don’t know what the new normal is … We’ve had so many first-time gun buyers in the last year, the complexion of the industry has changed in the last two years.”

It’s a business that seems to turn on a dime with political changes, news of mass shootings and supply-and-demand challenges with ammunition.

Abramson said the number of memberships has “more than doubled” in the last year and retail sales have tripled.

“We’ve scrambled to find the ammunition we need to keep the range stocked adequately,” he said. “We’ve just signed new contracts, which should give us a solid supply for the foreseeable future.”

More than 300 members signed up in the days after the new shooting center opened, which Abramson said is the largest in the state.

Saunders Construction Inc. of Centennial was the general contractor for the facility. Intergroup Architects of Littleton designed it.

Abramson said the business plans to hire up to 12 people in coming weeks to help staff the new center. Company officials are also looking to replicate the model in four other cities.

Best Range Experience

Wednesday, October 10, 2012 by Centennial Gun Club Stories

I started going to ladies night shortly after it began and just completed the NRA marksmenship program and received my distinguished expert certification for pistal shooting.
I have been to a few other local ranges before for their ladies night where I was just treated like a number, but at Centennial the staff and owners are all so friendly it contributed to an over all wonderful experience every time. The facility is clean and the range itself is well ventilated. They also have marshalls in the range to answer any questions or assist you if needed.
If you are a lady who has never shot before Ladies night is for you. It will provide you with the opportunity to not only learn how to properly handle a firearm, but also try out various modles and calibers of pistals and rifles. The best part is its all free, you only have to provide your own ammunition.
I highly reccomend visiting Centennial Gun Club for Ladies night and any other time for one of your best experiences at a range.
Thank you Centennial Gun Club for this great experience!

Centennial Gun Club Shooting Range

shooter

Centennial Gun Club is the best of Colorado Shooting Ranges.  Safety is always our major concern in our Shooting Range.  Safety is a personal responsibility of all shooters and our ranges are always staffed with Range Safety Officers to remind each shooter of their personal responsibility to themselves and others in the range.

In an indoor range, ventilation is a critical component of the shooting environment.  Ventilation systems in our ranges are designed for shooter comfort and is climate controlled, maintaining a 70° temperature year-round.  Air movement is carefully controlled to maintain a constant flow of clean air from behind the shooter, moving down range.  This air movement provides clean air to the shooter and moves smoke and dust down range, away from the shooter.

Our current range has 6 shooting lanes and our new facility will open with 28 state-of-the-art 25 meter lanes.  Each lane is equipped with target carriers with 360° turning targets.  A number of scenarios are programmed into the system including the law enforcement qualifier, Front Sight Skills Test and good guy / bad guy scenarios.  Each of these is designed to encourage target discrimination, speed and accuracy.  Our Range Safety Officers can help you get a scenario that will challenge your skills.  Again, safety first.

Our ranges are built to support tactical training for rifles and shotguns as well as handguns.  The trap systems are designed to absorb all common calibers of handguns and rifles up to 50 BMG.  Shotguns are permitted using #4 shot and lower including 00 buck and slugs.

Club Membership is the best way to use our indoor firing range.  Members can reserve shooting time six days in advance.  Our range is also a public shooting range and non-members can reserve shooting time 24 hours in advance.  We encourage you to call 303-662-9900 and ask the rangemaster to help find a time that works in your schedule.

Centennial Gun Club Facilities

Centennial Gun Club

Many have asked about our new building and what facilities are included in the new building.  The new building is approximately 35,000 square feet and will include retail, training center, and shooting range, in addition to our amazing Statesman’s Lounge.  The facility was designed to support our mission of EQUIP • PREPARE • PRACTICE.  In future posts we will break down each portion of the new facility and provide additional information on what you can expect.

Members always have preference in our facilities with a number of benefits including six day advanced reservation for range time, while non-members can reserve 24 hours in advance.  Our new facility will allow the public to use the range so that they can try out the facilities in advance of becoming members.  Of course, our members are always encouraged to bring non-member guests to introduce them to the fun and responsibility of shooting sports.  We will have 28 shooting lanes in the new facility which will allow much expanded shooting activities including leagues, competitions, shooting on the move and behind concealment, and many other training opportunities.

Our goal is to provide you with the best of Colorado Shooting Ranges and be the finest of Denver gun shops.

As we move forward with construction of our new building, we really appreciate feedback and suggestions from our members and guests as to how we can improve the experience for each of you on every visit.
